Paige stepped out of the trailer door and threw the big western saddle on the dark bay mare's short back. The mare grunted loudly in protest and turned her head around to stare at the girl. Paige chuckled, "Tut tut, don't give me that look, Secret." Paige smiled and reached a hand out and pet the mares nose, "This is going to be fun, I promise." The mare sighed heavily and almost seemed to roll her eyes and turned her head back towards the trailer. Paige shook her head as she reached under her belly for the girth and began to cinch her up. Usually, Paige would ride the mare in her dressage tack but it was always western for Secret when they went trail riding. Or just went out to play in general. Paige liked to mix it up for her old mare.
Paige turned and reached up on a hook and grabbed the one eared western bridal off a hook on the outside of the trailer. Paige gently fed Secret the bit and fixed it over the mare's finely sculpted head. And with that, Paige closed the trailer door and lead Secret around the other side of the trailer and the mare stopped instantly and raised her head. Secret's large nostrils began to flare as she looked this way and that. Paige stepped back to get a good look at her. She did this often, because Paige was so in love with the mare. The mare had taught Paige everything she knew; paitence, how to be strong when needed and when to be gentle, and always never to give up.
"Come on girl,"Paige said as she lifted her leg into the wide western stirrup and hoisted herself into the saddle. She did look a little funny. She was wearing a normal white shirt, blue jeans, and her tall black english boots. Either way, she was casual and ready for this ride. The mare stepped forwards impaitently, but Paige sat back and made a "ack" noise and the mare stopped. Paige stood there for a moment, before giving the mare her reins and letting her walk forwards, down into the tall grass.
Secret broke into an easy trot halfway down into the meadow and Paige just went with it, they turned in circles and made figure eights, but not long after the pair stopped in the middle of the meadow and Paige dismounted. She pet the mares nose and took a few steps and saw down in the grass. She looked up at the mare and smiled, "It's such a lovely day for a trail ride, no?" The mare looked at her with pricked ears before beginning to graze. There was nothing out of the ordinary going on, but if you were to gaze down at them, you wouldn't see Paige sitting in the grass. Just wonder why a mare was grassing in a meadow all by herself.

Rolling down the road in a black truck Andy thought to himself how he was going to get to California, let alone enter the rodeo circut. His thoughts however were rudly interupted by a loud shuttering noise and the shakeing of his truck seat. At first he thought something was wrong with the engine but when he glanced up at the dash the check engine light was off and he didn't smell smoke or anything. Then he looked over and realized that the small red fuel needle was becoming best friends with the letter E. "Damn..." Then he could see the horse trailer in the back start bouncing and he knew that Ni'ihau and Kalo'olawe were starting to get antsy. The three had been traveling for about a day now, straight.
Getting out of the truck and shutting the door with a sure thud Andy ran his hand through his hair, sighed, and then walked to the back of the trailer. The cremello Lustiano stud named Ni'ihau tried to rach back and look at him before pawing the ground in a loud clanking raquet. Getting irritated Andy smacked the side of the trailer, and the pawing stopped. He had never been a patient horse and he needed to learn after some nine years. Before openning the door Andy yelled out "Come."' The trailer slowly shifted to him and he unlocked the door and lead it back around.
As the door opened standing in a rather irritated mood was two Lustiano studs, one black and the other cremello. Andy had brought them from Hawaii with him and would never lose them. They were twins and he raised them from colts and they thought of his as a lead mare. Funny right, ya he thought it was histerical. The two studs were not hooked up but they stayed until Andy waved for them to follow and then they stood outside the side of the trailer, still waiting. Once Andy went in to the tack area he came back out with a western roping saddle and a bridle with split reins made of black leather. After putting on a white thick saddle pad he swung the saddle up on to the black stud. He awaited the girth and sucked in when he did do it.
Swinging himself up on to the studs back he waited before moving off of Andys leg cue to walk forward. Tethered to the saddle horse was the black lead rope of the cremellow stud, and he followed as way. They ventured in to the trail, knowing that eventualy they would have to find someone to help or a gas station. The powerful legs of the black stud carried him effortlessly across the rocks and through the trees until the trail openned in to a large edow with emerald blades flowing like a sea in the wind. Andy glanced around and noticed that there was a dark bay mare with all tack included grazing in the distance. Not knowing if the horse was dangerous he turnned in his saddle to the cremello stud, who's ears flicked forward to listen.
Andy pointed to the mare and then untied the stud, he walked camly out of the treeline and then started at a gallop to the mare with nothing but a black halter with the white enscription of "Ni'ihau" on the front of his nose band. Andy watched from the trees as the stallion neared the mare, he thought that te mare would follow him back to him, instead Ni'i jumped back circle the mare in a larger circle than needed and reared kicking out, nickering for Andy and his brother. Applying pressure to the black studs flanks he started forward to the cremello stud who seemed to be throwing a temper tantrum. Very unlike him...

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,550,true] | A smile stretched over Paige's lips as she leaned back and laid in the grass. This was perfect. Life was perfect in the moment. The summer sun was shining down on her and her mare. And a light breeze ran through the grass and over her face, cooling her lightly. She folded her arms behind her head and repositioned her braid. She wiggled her body around until she became comfortable and she relaxed. She inhaled, the smell of summer time and the smell of Secret. Her eyes closed slowly and the world faded a bit. Secret continued grazed close to Paige, The mare wouldn't stray far from the girl. Only because she was loyal to the girl. The girl, after all, had owned her for ten years. They knew one another and Secret was very protect over the girl. Any time she fell off, Secret wouldn't leave her side. And this was no different.
Secret breathed in and a ear flicked back. Other horses where approaching, she could smell it. She chewed the last bit of grass in her mouth and moved at a slow walk to where Paige slept. She nickered lowly as she sniffed the girls face and prompted her to awaken. She nibbled at her forehead tenderly and moved her head up watching her girl. Paige stirred slowly and slowly opened her eyes. She blinked and smiled up at the dark bay mare, "Hey girl." She said softly before she noticed Secret looked back around her. Paige began to sit up, as she knew, Secret was not just looking at anything. She had her eyes and ears forcused on something. Just then, the dark bay mare turned and flicked her ears backwards. She didn't pin them but she stomped a hoof, it was a warning. Paige quickly stood up and she noticed a cremello stallion trotting around them. He wasn't wild, he had a halter on. She could see some words on the side but couldn't make them out. Secret moved closer to Paige. Paige raised her hands out and away from her body, "Shh, shhh, it's alright, boy." She said softly to the stallion, but that was about the time he reared and Paige stepped back instinctively away from him. Secret snorted loudly and bounced forwards and reared to match the stallion. No where near his height that towered over her by about a hand, but still, she was mighty and fierce. She came down and Paige quickly moved forwards and grabbed the broken leather reins and pulled her back to her. "Easy, easy.." She cooed to the white stallion and then she turned. She had thought she heard hooves on the earth but when she turned she knew she was right. A young man on a black horse was headed towards her. She immediately put the two together; the stallion and this fellow on the black horse. But she just kept Secret still but kept an eye on the white stallion. "Is he your's?" Paige called out to the young man, just trying to make conversation.

Once the black horse, Kaho'olawe, came round just high enough of the grass he could see a girl trying to calm Ni'ihau. When in reality he was rearing because he had not exactly expected a person to stand out of the grass and just knida show up. Ni'ihau was a little roudy and he had what some would call blonde moments, which was appropreate for him because he technicaly was blonde. Andy smiled and ran his hand to scatch his back, the bay mare he had sent him to go get in the first place now lassed out at him. Andy watched with blue eyes Ni'ihau flicked his ears forward, trunned to the side slightly, and stare at the mare with an expression of confussion, fraustration, dissapointement, but over all he was rather dumb founded at the mares reaction. Usualy other horses he new at home stood for his stupid behavior, or his brother kept him in line having it come from someone else made it weird.
Kaho'olawe and Andy moved closer to the dumbfounded stallion, the protective mare, and the barely visible girl. It seemed that she had brown hair and a very good connection with the mare. Loyalty was the one thing you couldn't train in to a horse. When they got slightly closer Ni'ihau broke his gaze from the mare and in a wildly frustrated attempt to through a tantrum he bucked and kicked at the air before stoping at Kaho'olawe's nose and saying hello. Then the cremello stud glanced up at Andy with a look of desparation, kinda like a two-year-old when he tries something and it just won't work. In a prosess of shifting his saddle to the left he reached over and patted Ni'ihaus nose before reaching around and guesturing to the back of the black stud. The cremellow followed his motion and remaind calmly in the back.
Upon coming closer to the mare and it's girl, Andy found her to be rather pretty. She was wearing a white shirt, common blue jeans, and black english boots. Andy smiled at the thought of western and english combining. He knew that he should probably apologise for the behavior of his stallion, and he would so would the stud. Grabbing hold of one of the split reins He hopped down from the black Lustianos back and landed with a sure thud on the dirt in between the grass. The sun shone bright but not hot and it felt nice on Andy's brown skin after spending the winter in New York. He looked up at the girl and listened to her speak. In an imediate reaction Andy put his hands out in a get-ready-for-an-explanation kinda way, but she was not hosstile and this made him feel better.
"Is he yours?" Was all she said and he immediatly slipped his hands in to his jeans and relaxed his posture. He hated to admit it but he love talking about his horses. Moving one hand out to sctach the back of his head he spoke in a shamed kinda way like and apology. "Yeah... I guess so." The he relaxed again this time leaning his hand out of his pocket. It felt kind of awkward in the next moment and worried he just said "Beautiful mare you have, whats her name... and might I ask yours?" His tone was calm and smooth trying not to agitate the situation. Also though to because Ni'ihau and Kaho'olawe would keep him in check if him started acting stupid. As if on cue the black Lustiano, Kao'olawe, came and shoved him in the back in a rather rude matter. Andy just sighed and shooed him away...

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,550,true] | As the black stallion approach Paige could get a better look at the young man riding. He was exceptionally tan and had very dark hair. He had a exotic look to him. With his wide nose and sun kissed sky, she automatically guessed he was a pacific islander of some sort. Paige watched him approach and kept a strong hand on Secret's reins. She could feel Secret pulling a bit for her head but Paige just wouldn't let her have it just yet. As alarmed as Paige was she wouldn't show it. She just watched as the young man approached and the demenor in the cremello stallion changed. Paige blinked when he stopped a little ways off. The cremello stallion seemed to go to the black horse with ease and happiness. Paige had guessed it was a mare but if it was Secret would have pinned her ears already. It wasn't a mare. Paige glanced back and noticed, it was in fact, another stallion. Secret turned her head around her to look at the young man and the stallions. She blinked and turned and nudged her girl. Like clock work Paige released her reins and Secret put her head down to graze.
But Paige kept watching the man and his stallions. She was wondering what he was doing with two stallions, and one so freely kept. But she decided, maybe it wasn't time to ask. In a seconds notice, the young man hopped down and hit the ground with a thud. And turned towards Paige when she questioned him but put his arms up. The kind of way someone does when they want to say something. So she let him speak. "Yeah... I guess so." Paige tilted her head at him. He guessed? That was a strange response but she shrugged it off as he spoke again, "Beautiful mare you have, whats her name... and might I ask yours?" Paige smiled suddenly at the compliment and turned towards the dark bay mare and scratched the crest of her neck. "Thanks. Her names is Secret and I'm Paige." Paige said and looked up at the tanned man and blinked her green eyes. "And you and your boys are?" She asked just as smoothly and in cadence to her last sentance as the young man.

He watched intrested as the girl patted the bay mare's check and then introduced themselves. Secret was the mares name and the girl's name was Paige. He liked both of the names and while he thought, he remembered that he was here because his truck ran out of gas and was sitting dormant next to the trail opennings fence. His face changed for a moment in to one of irritance, not with Paige but with himself that he forgot to full up the truck before passing through this town. That brought up another question in his mind. Not recalling any of the road signs, where in the U.S was he? He didn't want to ask Paige though because than he would look stupid but he did asume that she knew where they were.
He turnned up to look at her when she asked about his horses but before talking about his two wonderful morons he turnned again to face his side to her as to get a look of the grazing stallions and her. "She's beautiful and nice to meet you Paige," Andy first pointed to the black lusitano then to the cremello "That's Kaho'olawe and his twin brother Ni'ihau." He sighed and then shifted to face her completly again. Andy didn't want to just stand around in that moment so in the next second he whisted and sure enough the hoof beats of two horses came up behind him. They stopped one reaching him and Andy pointed to the now grazing Secret, the two followed his direction and went to go mingle with the mare. The black Kaho'olawe went directly to here and Ni'ihau followed a little more hesitant because of his earlyer episode. Andy was now looking past Paige a little, concered about the meeting a little.
