Dressed in dark blue scrubs, Dakota came up to her vet office and got her keys out, then proceeded to unlock the door. Then as she opened the door, she switched the sign around to say 'Open'. If there was ever an emergeny, everyone in town knew her number. She switched on the lights and checked her medical supplies. Everything looked good, Dakota was glad that she lived in a town where she didn't have to worry about people using animal drugs.
There was no animals in the kennels, so that saved her some work and no horses staying in the barn near her office, both very good signs but made for a dull work day. Dr. Glass whistled as she got ready for the rest of her day to begin.

In James’ opinion, it was much too early to be up and about. Unfortunately, it was necessary. At least for him it was. He had scored a job as a vet tech at the local Vet Clinic and today was his first day on the job. After a quick shower and pulling on his green scrubs, he set off for the office. As he was leaving though, a black and white dog bounded to the door, nearly crashing headfirst into James’ legs. Laughing, he bent down and stroked the dog and said, “You can’t come with me, Jack, I’ve gotta go to work.” Seeing the almost sad look on the dog’s face made him laugh, but he sighed and snapped a collar around the Great Dane’s neck and grabbed a leash off a hook and snapped it to the collar.
After the dog was loaded in the truck, they set off. It was an excellent day, but it rarely was otherwise here, very different from his birthplace. Pulling into the parking lot of the office he noticed another car already there. Must be the Vet, glad I finally get to meet the person. After turning the truck off, James unloaded the dog from the passenger side and pushed through the door to the Office. Seeing another person, he offered his hand to shake while gripping the collar of the dog with the other. “Hey, I’m James Goodwin, one of the vet techs? And this is Jack, chewer of cushions. He kind of demanded to come with, so I hope you don’t mind. I’ll just keep him behind the counter or in a kennel in the back. Whichever works best for everyone?” He said with a grin on his face, his London accent slipping out.

Dakota saw another vehicle drive into the parking lot. She knew it wasn't a patient though because of her two new Vet Techs was starting today. The second would be in later on in a couple of weeks. At least he dresses like a vet tech. Dakota thought, noticing the proper attire for any medical field. That was very good. Since she'd been here, no one would believe how many people showed up here looking to be her assistant and wore jeans and boots. That was causal attire, not professional. At least not here.
"Good morning, Mr. Goodwin. Jack can stay wherever he likes, get to know the place. Though if another dog ever comes in, I would like him to go into the office, right there." Dakota nodded towards her office, it was spacious and was a place for her to relax inbetween patients. "Let me show you around real quick. This is the waiting room, the phone is on that desk. There is a locked drawer where money and change are kept, we only take cash, remember that." Dakota walked into another room, the usual patient room. "This is where you will be taking the pets and their owners, where you will do a general overview, sheck the teeth, ears, coat. See if there are any ticks or fleas in the coat, take blood, put in chips, that kind of stuff. Then I will come in with whatever it is I need to tell them or check out."
The next room was the operating room, "The operating room, you are to be completely sanitized before you enter this room when an animal is on the table. I hope you know your surgical tools, Mr. Goodwin because I have no patience with being handed the wrong tool when an animal is under anethesia."
Finally Dr. Glass came to the first set of kennels, "These are for cats and other small animals only. No dogs." Quickly walking through another door there were larger kennels, "These are for the dogs. That door on the other side leads to an outdoor pen where the dogs can go outside if they can. This room," Dakota once again went to through another door and this one was as spacious as her office. Half was filled with dog food, a quarter was filled with cat food and other animal food. The last quater was buckets, mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, and anything else needed to keep this place up and running. "Is the store room."
"The barn for the horses is out back about two miles out, we can drive there now if you want. The medicine is locked up and will stay that way until I'm sure of your abilities and I know I can trust you. Plus that's my job anyway, you will only ever administer meds if I am not here. Any questions?"

James nodded and unclipped the dog's leash, nudging him towards the counter, where the dog flopped down on the ground. Nodding he followed Dr. Glass around the place, making a mental note of where everything was and what it was for. Only cash, huh? Gotta remember that... WIP
