Today is going to be awesome. That was James’ first thought as he pulled up to the entrance to the trail. The sun was beating down, but a breeze blew through every now and then, making it more bearable. As he switched the truck off the stomping of hooves met his ears. Grinning slightly, he climbed out and made his way to the trailer. Peering in, James met the eyes of the horse and laughed to himself as the horse snorted defiantly at him. “Now don’t be like that, Escalade, this’ll be cool.” He said as he turned to the truck bed. James pulled a saddle, saddle pad, and bridle from it and slung the stuff through a slat in the trailer. He slipped through the side door and began to tack the horse up.
After the horse was tacked James backed him out. A breeze ruffled James’ hair and blew new scents towards Escalade, making the horse twitch excitedly. The horse looked around with a wild glint in his brown eyes, and his ears swiveled around trying to catch all the sounds. James chuckled, “Now you’re excited, I see. Ready?” He grabbed his keys, locked the truck with a remote, and boosted himself into the saddle. When he was comfortable, they set off. James was singing a tune to himself, and Escalade prancing around as best he could, happy to be out and about. Neither paid notice to the other vehicle pulling up onto the trail.
