For all my life I had not left the deserts blazing sun and it's unforgiving winds. I have been here for so long now that they seem to call my name. The passing cloud does not exist here and the rains only come once a year. All life is either destroyed, living in suffering soon to come to an end, or relived but those suffering in a mirage caused by the sever lack of water. Why I'm not dead yet is a mystery to many but I find life here easy. Simple tricks keep me alive, as does mind over matter. Were others see death I see life. The gray and sickly green lizards hide under the sand, the red and orange snake travels for miles on end with out ever once blinking. A even in the spring and winter do all the cactus flowers bloom in a drizzling area of color and spark. For these reasons I do not leave even if I know that I can.
I have been feeling for sometime now that my journey of a years whim has come to an end. Upon knowing that these last few step were going to be my home for a good time, even though I'd never really had one, I found a certain pride in knowing that I could share it with others. Eventually they would all see what life hides here, even if it kills them. Well like I always said to my mother your the most alive right before you die. A smile played it's way across my piebald maw said it thought about her more in depth. I was glad to be rid of her burden, for she never learned. My powerful legs ached with anticipation for the final stop, my coat shone bright in the suns warming rays. The wind danced with the ends of my ebony mane and tail, flipping my forelock over my left eye. The feathers entangled with the sandy dunes and gazed I gazed upon a stretching desert bordered by forests of desert trees, and flowing strong through it a river of clear ways. Peculiar... just my type.
As I stood upon the dune it came to me. Throwing my massive bulk on to powerful pistons of legs and dinner plate sized hooves, I lashed out in to the hot air with fury and rage. The world would know who I was and I would not be ignored any longer. The wind echoed in cheer blowing me ever way and I responded with a blood churning bellow across the dunes and down in the depths of the river. "I here by take this land as my own!" I landed with a deep thud that broke the face of the sand dune announcing my arrival. "It will be called... Land Of The Living Dead." Assuring my place I launched it to a gallop my head held high in anticipation as I went exploring...
