Victoria . . . Having arrived at Silver Moon Ranch a day or two ago, the young brunette hadn't found a home, yet. But, she did manage to find shelter in the trails; it was almost like camping, so it didn't bother her much. And, if she ever needed protection; she had her two dogs and Vendetta, her knabstrupper mare. But, so far, she was lucky to be able to escape any kind of danger. Unfortunately, things could change. Victoria's emerald-stained gaze shifted around the slowly emptying diner. It had been a long day for the workers of the diner, and night was falling; --which meant she should have headed back to the trails quite a few hours ago. But, she had enjoyed being in the company of others, even if she didn't talk to any of them. Slowly, she finished the rest of her meal, before moving to stand. Though, as she stood up a hard figure seemed to bump into her. Glancing up at the tall man who had bumped her, memories seemed to flash through her mind. Quickly, she shifted a bit and made a dash for the diner doors. Of course, she had paid for the meal earlier in the day, thankfully.
Her petite form exited the diner, before she moved into a run away from it. She was practically afraid to look behind her, in case the man was following her. Though, she definitely hoped he wasn't. The memories the man had revived within her mind were the memories of her being raped by her father's friend. The only person who knew about the incident, besides for her, was her father. Which was pretty much the reason why she was here. Her father had sent her to Silver Moon Ranch to get her away from his friend, and her boyfriend. As she ran away from the diner, the only sound she could hear was the sound of her sneakers upon the sidewalk. She had left her mare and dogs at the trails, because she had known she would return there and they'd be safe. But, she hadn't expected herself to possibly be in danger. Of course, at the moment, she was pretty much trying to run away from the memories in her mind; --to no avail. But, behind her, she could suddenly hear the footsteps of someone chasing her. Daring to take a glance back, she saw the dark figure of the man following her. But, at the same time that she glanced backwards, she ran right into another figure in front of her. "S. . . sorry," she muttered, taking a step backwards.

what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger &&
The nice way to put how Wren felt about being left was he was mad—and more than a little depressed. He was head-over-heels for Victoria—she knew it, too! And then out of no where she is shipped off to some small-town in Montanna and didn’t even care to tell him. He was hurt and didn’t understand why this girl that seemed to love him back had left. He was confused and exhausted, having driven all night when he found out where she was going. Wren knew that Victoria’s no-good father (or at least he found the man no-good) would send her off into the middle of no where without a house to live in. Or maybe she did have one, but Wren didn’t know. He was worried about her under all of his hurt and anger; yet he still wasn’t sure if she had left by choice. With all of the snooping he had done, Wren had seen plenty of evidence to point the finger at Vic’s dad, but he didn’t know. He did know Victoria, and he didn’t think she was capable of this.
So tired, and somehow managing to handle the facts that he had bought an apartment and lugged his animals to frikkin’ Middle Of Nowhere Montanna, Wren pulled into the parking lot of a diner. His truck was big enough without the giant trailer attached to it, so finding an empty area to park it was a pain. Eventually, he just pulled off to the side and parked. The dark-haired young man could hear Gold snorting impatiently in the trailer, so he decided to let the boy out for a bit before eating. He looked in his backseat at his puppy and the cats he had picked up off the side of the road. When Wren had seen them helpless on a backroad, he had to pick them up. There was no way that he was going to leave the family to die. Anyways, they were precious, and he was sure that Victoria would love them. He didn’t smile, but he reached back and pet them. Wren was scared to let the cars out, but he’d let Spark go. So when he jumped out, his little pit bull puppy came with him.
Being a horse-town, Wren knew that letting Gold out would be okay. He went around back to the trailer and opened it, immediately being hit in the chest. He laughed softly and grabbed the palomino’s halter, pulling his head down so he wouldn’t hit him again. “Gold, you crazy kid. Don’t knock me over.” The stallion seemed to snort in amusement as a response, but Wren just ignored it and snapped his lead on. The stallion pranced eagerly, moving gracefully away from Wren. Frowning, he tightened his hold and held Gold back. With a roll of his eyes, Wren pulled Gold back to the trailer and tied his lead to the trailer. He was going to let the stallion stay out, but he didn’t trust him to stick around just yet. He patted the young stallion once then turned around, his pup nipping at his heels.
Wren got hardly anywhere before being smacked into by a petite girl. He grabbed the young woman by the elbows to steady her, then let her go, staring past her at the man that was pursuing. For the girl’s protection, Wren acted as if they were familiar, placing a hand back on her elbow and ignoring her muttered sorry and the step she took away. The man stopped and turned around, hesitating at the dark-haired man’s touch and look. He looked back down at the girl with an almost stern look, but was shocked. It couldn’t be . . . But it was. There was no denying those green eyes. “Victoria?” he said almost innocently, then his gaze darkened with hurt confusion. “Why?” he asked, taking a step back.

Victoria . . . 'Victoria?' At the innocent sound of her name, the young girl lifted her emerald gaze only to find herself looking at Wren. Her gaze quickly shifted behind her as she watched the other man turn around and walk away. Turning her gaze back towards Wren, she took another step backwards, but soon halted at the hurt confusion within his eyes. 'Why?' At his question, she noticed him take a step backwards and lowered her gaze. A small sigh slipped past her lightly lip glossed lips as she shook her head slowly. "I'm Sorry, Wren. . ." She muttered taking another two steps backwards. Her gaze remained lowered to the sidewalk as she shuffled a sneaker against the sidewalk. She hadn't expected to run into him, having thought he was still back in South Dakota. But, here he was. . .
"It's not my fault," she started, thinking about how to answer his question. "I wanted to tell you, I really did. But, my father, he wouldn't allow it," she continued, her soft voice seeming to drop. Lifting her gaze, she glanced toward Gold before glancing back to Wren. She hated seeing the hurt in his eyes and wished she could take back everything that her father had put them through. She never wanted to move out here, she wanted to remain in South Dakota with Wren. And, if she had had her choice, she would have. But, her father deemed it better to move her all of the way out here away from him. She wished she could just run into his arms and forget about everything, but knew it wouldn't be that easy. The memories of her raping would last forever, no matter what she did.
"He didn't want anyone, but him, to know where I was being moved to. . Because, there is something I need to tell you," she stated, afraid of what he'd do when he found out the truth about why she had been moved out to Silver Moon Ranch. Shaking her head slowly, she tried to clear her mind of the memories. "A few days before I met you; I was raped by my father's friend. My dad was furious when he found out, and moved me out here. I've been staying in the forests at the trails since I got here. . ." She stated, finally admitting the truth to someone else. Some relief washed over her at finally being able to tell someone else what had happened. Her father had ordered her to keep it a secret from everyone, but Victoria knew that she owed the truth to Wren; no matter what happened afterwards.

Wren had no idea what to say past that. What does one say when abandoned by the person they loved most? He loved her more than he loved his mother, because he didn’t have one. He loved her more than he loved his father, because his father abandoned him in every way except for physically. The man had dropped everything to come find her and know the truth. He had even been so stupidly reckless as to buy an apartment. He didn’t know what she wanted, but he wanted to know and was scared of the answer. Wren would give her what she wanted eventually, even if it was for him to leave; after a long time of trying to convince her otherwise, of course—he couldn’t help his rebellious, determined nature. He wouldn’t give up so easy, especially if there was the vaguest chance that she would take him back. But why jump to conclusions?
His extremely dark eyes watched her, masking the emotion he had just shown. He wasn’t one to admit his feelings to any, though Victoria had always been an exception. It was odd to hide how he felt from her, and more than a little disturbing. She was one of the only people he could ever talk to. He didn’t want to block her out, but he also didn’t want to get himself hurt anymore. He continued to watch her calmly, but smoldering underneath. All he wanted to do in that moment was pull her to him, and the need to do so almost broke him, but he wouldn’t—he absolutely couldn’t, not until he heard what she had to say. Then maybe things could go back to how they were, but maybe they couldn’t. Maybe there was so much more to this that Wren didn’t understand and never would. Maybe he would have to move on.
Victoria moved back a couple of steps, and it seemed as if the distance squeezed Wren’s heart a little tighter. Still, he gazed at her blankly, but then a quick flash of them together crossed his mind. The man’s defenses broke and the emotion showed again. He didn’t know how he was going to get over her. Her muttered apology barely skimmed his ears. Pain was still in his gaze, but it wasn’t dark; it was just honest. She went on to say it wasn’t her fault and mentioned her father. Wren was looking at the ground but he looked sharply back up at that. He knew from the way that Vic had kept them a secret, that her dad was either terrible or would object to their dating. Of course her dad would attempt to break them up. Wren held in a sigh, knowing that there was more to the story.
Wren listened quietly and calmly, trying to be the good boyfriend he was. Nervousness welled up inside of him when she said she had to tell him something, and that nervousness was met with a myriad of conflicting emotions. She had been raped? And she never told him? Not that he was angry that he wasn’t told, but he was pissed at the man who would do that. He wanted to hold Vic because of it. And he wanted to punch her dad for thinking that this was the solution. How would taking her away from the boyfriend that would protect her be any help? If anything, he had made her more vulnerable. Vic was left with no one but her animals here; Wren was now determined to stay.
The need to hold her won out over all of that, and he hesitantly went to hug her, wrapping both arms around her thin frame. “That’s okay, love. I only want to protect you from things like that.”

Victoria . . . Victoria had watched his every emotion as she told him the truth. Her gaze shifted around them, glancing through the growing darkness. The memories of being raped always had her cautious and wary about her surroundings. She didn't want that horrible moment to come by again. It would kill her. Though, as she continued to glance around at the darkness, she felt arms wrap around her body. 'That's okay, love. I only want to protect you from things like that.' At his words and the warmth of his arms around her, she turned her gaze back towards him. A soft, yet small smile graced her lips.
"I've missed you," she commented, and just leaned into the welcoming warmth. She knew she'd probably never get over the memories, but with Wren around, she'd feel safe and protected. Slowly, and reluctantly she leaned back and looked into his chocolate gaze. "It's getting late," she stated with a small laugh. Deep down, she hoped he'd forgive her for being so weak during the moment of her raping. But, even if he didn't, it was something that she couldn't take back, no matter how much she wanted to. It seemed to be at that exact moment that she remembered the animals. She turned her gaze from his face and glanced toward Gold again. She knew that she'd have to go to the trails to get her animals, soon. But, for the moment, she just wanted to relax and be in her boyfriend's arms. It seemed to have been a long time since she had felt his arms around her.

Wren smiled a little when Victoria smiled up at him, matching the smallness of her smile. He was just happy to be around her again, even if it was under stressed circumstances. He now knew why she had left, and it definitely wasn’t because of his own stupidity or the because he wasn’t good enough for her anymore. It was ridiculous, because moving out Montanna to get rid of a boyfriend was a little extreme. If she really wanted to escape him, all she had to do was tell him it was over (even if he would persist until he absolutely knew it was over—he’d eventually give her what she wanted). It was funny, what she could do to him. He was a rebellious, moody boy . . . but when Vic was around, she could make him do whatever she wanted. He would tell her things he would never even dream of telling other people. She was his only exception.
“I’ve missed you,” Victoria said, her voice like music to his ears. He loved the way she felt when she leaned into him. Being much taller than her, it was a comfortable fit. She seemed to curve perfectly to match him. He was such a cheesy romantic when it came to her, but he didn’t care. Wren moved his thumbs back and forth, softly rubbing her back even if he couldn’t feel it through her clothes. He really didn’t care—it was a comfort to be soothing her again. They had only been apart for three days, but god, it felt like forever. It would always feel like forever if he thought he might lose her. They seemed like a couple that had been separated for years, though it felt like that. Knowing that he didn’t know what Vic was doing made it seem like forever.
When Victoria leaned away from Wren, his grip tightened for a second, then loosened. He couldn’t hold her for hours, but he didn’t want to let her go after almost losing her. His hands dropped down to her waist, resting lightly there. “It’s getting late.” Her laughter was gorgeous—he loved hearing it. Though there was nothing funny, it was a relief to hear something so light. Wren kept both of his hands at her waist, still not willing to let her go. His thoughts wandered to the last time his hands were on her waist. They were dancing, dancing to nothing and he was trying to show her how to move like he did. But his dance moves were natural and came easy to him, so teaching was a little harder than need be. They ended up laughing and just joking until he pulled her to him by her waist, but even then they had been laughing. Slow dancing with Vic had been easy and nothing was expected of him.
Victoria glanced at Gold and Wren followed her gaze. He sighed softly, knowing that it was getting dark. What she had said earlier meant they were going to have to get her animals. Wren had to drop off his animals first if they were going to get her horse. He frowned, then dropped his hand to grab Victoria’s, lacing his fingers with hers. “I have something to show you.” Wren tugged Vic to Gold, undoing Gold’s lead and ushering him back into the trailer. He let go of Vic’s hand and closed the trailer, latching the door tightly. He then picked up Spark and smiled a little at his girlfriend, holding tightly to his squirming puppy. Wren placed his hand at the small of her back, guiding her to his passenger side door, opening it. A question was in his eyes then. Was she going to go with him?

Victoria . . . 'I have something to show you.' At the sound of his voice, she nodded her head slowly. When he laced his fingers with hers, it caused her to smile again. To her, it had seemed like a century since she had felt his fingers laced with hers. She felt him tug her towards Gold and willingly followed him, the smile staying on her face. Right now, she was happy and the memories had vanished from her mind for the moment. Though, the slightest trigger could bring them back, but she didn't want to think about that, at the moment. When Wren let go of her hand to close the trailer door, she almost frowned, but chose not to. Though, at the sight of the puppy and his smile, she couldn't help but smile a bit bigger. The squirming of the puppy almost causing her to laugh, but she didn't.
She hadn't said anything in response to his statement, but she willingly followed him once more as he placed his hand on the small of her back. As her boyfriend opened the passenger side door, she glanced towards him for a split second. Slowly, she glanced back at the truck. With ease, she climbed up into the truck and slid herself onto the seat. The sound of almost inaudible meowing hit her ears, causing her to glance in the backseat. The sight of the cats seeming to cause her heart to melt. They were so adorable. However, her gaze shifted back towards Wren, before she started to concentrate on buckling her seatbelt as she waited for him to get in. She had no idea where they were going, since she didn't know that he had an apartment. But, she hoped he'd take her to get her dogs and horse, soon. They were probably lonely without her. But, she knew they'd wait for her to get there, no matter how long it took.
In her mind, she kept wanting to apologize to Wren for having left without saying anything. She knew she'd always hate her father for making her move away from her boyfriend, the only one she felt she could trust, ever. She missed her friends, as well. She hadn't made any friends around Montana yet, but she didn't know if she even wanted to. After all, the slightest trigger could break her down and she'd just run away. But, with Wren, she felt safe and knew he'd protect her. "The cats are adorable. Where are we going to go, Wren?" She inquired as he joined her in the truck.

It was hard to believe that Victoria wouldn’t get in the truck with him, but he was a little tense after opening the door. He had dropped his hand from her back and tucked it into his back pocket. He was going to give her the freedom to step back if she wanted to, no matter how much that scared him. Wren caught the millisecond glance that she gave him before slowly turning back to the truck. Vic got into the truck with ease, and Wren smiled in response. That was cleared up, so she was definitely going to stay with him. A small smile graced his lips. It was an easy smile, because she was the only person that he ever smiled easily around. It felt good to smile without tension again. Wren thought he might explode if the expectation had not have stopped. Wren didn’t think he would ever find someone to smile with like he smiled with Victoria.
The dark-haired young man knew that she would like the cats, and he smiled when she looked back at them. Her green gaze darted back to his brown one, and for a second their eyes met. Then she broke the spell and buckled her seatbelt. Content with her being safe in his car, Wren shut the door and walked around the front of the truck. The car wasn’t on and it was getting dark out, so he trailed his hand over the hood to navigate. Spark was running behind him, looking absolutely adorable and yipping all along. Wren almost smiled at the pit bill pup, but didn’t. His lack of smiling wasn’t because he had to keep his bad reputation up, but because he had gotten so used to not smiling for anyone or anything. Victoria had been the one to break that spell, but she was really the only person he would even laugh for. The rebelliousness in him took its toll in that area, and it was kind of sad. Maybe over time he’ll become a happier person.
Wren jumped into the truck with a nimble ease. His hair fell adorably into his eyes, but he merely flipped his hair and it was out of the way. He glanced over at Vic as she said, “The cats are adorable. Where are we going to go, Wren?” The two sentences seemed funny put next to each other. Like, the cats are really darn cute, but we still need some place to live, eat, sleep . . . Wren nearly laughed aloud, but just looked at Victoria in semi-amusement. He held the door open for Spark to jump in, and the little pup was in the truck in a second. He watched the dog hustle to the backseat and splay out next to the cats, as if they didn’t bother him at all. Wren stared for a second, then turned around to shut the door. He put his keys into the ignition and began driving before responding to Victoria.
“I have an apartment down at one of the complexes. I have a vague idea of how to get there. When I found out you had left, I immediately went snooping. After a lot of dangerous searching, I found out where you were sent to. So I came here on a whim, not even sure if you wanted me here at all. I uprooted pretty much everything. My dad was freaking ecstatic to get me out of the house, and even offered to pay for boarding and crap, like the douche bag he is. I couldn’t imagine losing you . . . I had to come and be positive that you didn’t want me around.” Wren felt like he needed to tell her that, even if it did seem a little stalkerish. He only loved her, and one did crazy things when they were in love. He kept his gaze forward, staring firmly at the road. One hand held tightly to the steering wheel while the other was tapping lightly against his thigh. He sighed softly and turned into the parking lot of the apartment complex.
After parking, he looked at the small field that lay next to it. It wasn’t much, and definitely wasn’t made to hold a horse for a long period of time, but he could keep a couple of horses there for a few days, until boarding was sorted out. Instead of getting out immediately, he glanced at Victoria, trying to meet her green-eyed gaze. The small distance between them was driving Wren crazy, and he wanted nothing more than to close it.

Of course, she pretty much thought everything her boyfriend did was cute. Her gaze moved down to his thigh at the restless movement of his hand tapping against it. She was almost tempted to reach over and take his hand in hers, but didn't. At the sound of his sigh, she looked up at him wondering what was on his mind, before her gaze moved towards the apartment complex.
However, when his gaze moved towards the small field near the complex as he parked, her own emerald gaze followed his. Though, she turned her gaze away from the field a few minutes before he did, and moved it back to him. As she glanced at him, her green eyes locked with his brown eyes. Just like Wren, she didn't even try to get out of the truck. She was quite content to just sit there with him. After all, he was her first and only love; and she hoped it always lasted. Though, she knew some things never lasted forever. "You never have to worry about losing me, Wren. I don't have plans on leaving you. The only way I'd leave, is if you didn't want me, anymore," she responded, her gaze remaining on his face. Her voice was soft, even inside the truck. She was almost tempted to scoot closer to him, but didn't. She still felt bad about having left without saying goodbye. But, maybe she'd eventually get over feeling bad.

Never again, was what Wren thought when he saw the scribbled note written by Victoria’s father. He would never again let her be scooped up by that man. There had already been times when he kept them apart unknowingly, but now he was consciously attempting to keep them apart. The resentment that he felt toward her father just kept on building and building, and it was burning a hole in his chest. He loved Vic with everything he was—she was his everything—and he wanted her all to himself. Not that he would ever be that possessive, but the thought of someone actively keeping them apart . . . that just didn’t fly with Wren. He didn’t think he would ever trust anyone as much as he trusted Victoria, and people just kept reinforcing that.
“You never have to worry about losing me, Wren. I don’t have plans on leaving you. The only way I’d leave, is if you didn’t want me anymore.” Wren stared at Vic in semi-shock upon hearing what she said. Those were words of commitment, words that he could easily relate to and took much comfort in. He felt suddenly blessed to be in a relationship with such a wonderful girl. The need to kiss her suddenly wrapped up his brain, sucking at his every thought, making him think of nothing else. It may have been hormones, but Wren took it as their relationship and the naturalness of it. With the way she was just staring and not moving closer, he knew that he was going to have to make the first move. It was almost as if he was reassuring her that he was okay, and that her leaving was perfectly understandable.
With a soft sigh, Wren reached his right hand forward, brushing a piece of hair from her face. Gently, he moved his touch down to her chin, letting his fingers drift softly. Wren kept his gaze on Victoria before flicking down to her lips. As if on cue, his hand pulled her face hesitantly toward his. Slowly, oh-so-slowly, the dark-haired man pressed his lips to hers. It wasn’t an aggressive kiss, but a soft one. His hand held her chin, his thumb subconsciously rubbing it. Wren’s other hand reached up and wrapped around the back of her neck, lightly holding it. He knew that if she pulled away, he would let her, but the movements he made were on instinct.

in character, The way he stared at her in semi-shock upon hearing what she said made her wonder what was going through his mind. Her emerald gaze shifted over his face, taking in every feature of his perfectly chiseled face. He was the only one that had ever been able to capture her heart, and she'd never let another take it from him. Her heart was for him, and him only. But, as she studied his face, she heard the soft sigh that passed through his lips before she noticed him reach his right hand forward to brush a piece of hair out of her face. The way he touched her made her smile in response, even as he moved his hand to her chin. Every movement his hand made, she felt, and her heart seemed to race with each touch. Within seconds, she felt his lips pressed against her lips. Her chin was still held in his hand. Though, as the kiss continued, she felt his other hand wrap around the back of her neck to lightly hold it.
However, if he thought she was going to pull away, she did the opposite. She allowed herself to lean into the kiss as she kissed him back. Slowly, she reached up and placed her hands on each side of his neck, the touch light, almost non-existent. Deep inside her chest, her heart continued to race as the kiss went on. But, she refused to move away from his kiss. After all, she was completely relaxed in his presence, and she didn't want to spoil the kiss for anything in the world. As the kiss went on, her eyes slowly closed. It was almost like heavenly bliss. Unfortunately, the sound of ringing entered her ears. The ringing coming from her mobile phone. Moving her hands, she pulled away reluctantly, and grabbed her phone. "Hold on, darling," she purred softly. The effects of the kiss still lingering inside her. She pushed a button on her phone and held it up to her ear. "Hello?" She muttered into the phone. Within seconds of hearing a reply, a shocked look crossed her face.
Oh yes, the dreaded moment when the father would call at the worst time. Of course, when she had answered the phone, she had heard him yelling at her to come back home. Actually, her father was demanding that she come back home. But, she couldn't. No, she wouldn't leave this place. She never wanted to return home to her father. Not after everything that had happened, and definitely not after she finally got Wren back. However, since she hadn't hung up the phone, she could still hear her father yelling through it.
