The fleabitten grey Arabian mare was put in a pen with lots of food and water. She heard some guys saying that she was probably not going to be sold because of her condition. She heard one guy say she wasn't worth buying. She was foundering and skinny. However it was an improvment from her latter condition. She had been foundering extremly and was really skinny. Her owners had abandoned her and she was bought. She was taken care of and then sold her to this auction house. She hoped someone would buy her but she knew her chances were very slim. Who would want to take care of a mare who wasn't rideable for at least a year, who was extremly skinny and needed to be taken to a vet. Lots of money for a person to spend just on one horse who wouldn't be rideable untill she was fatter and better. She wobbled over to her food and scarfed down some hay and grain. She then drank some water.

The two brothers wandered around franticly in the paddock as Andy, their mom, from what they understood went to go talk to someone. Granted the two were both happy to be out of that horrid trailer. They didn't like traveling but they did enjoy meeting new horses and wandering about but they were extremly tense. Always as they were when Andy left. Ni'ihau was the cremello stud would rounded the back of the paddock to see a fleabitten mare who was extremlys skinny. He turnned to whiny at the mare, trying to get her attention after she eat some. "Hey hey you! Are you okay?" After yelling with ears pricked forward his twin brother the black Lustino stud came over to were he was standing to gaze at the mare as well. He tossed his head and then he flicked his black banner. Each was wearing there halters. Ni'ihau with the black one, with his name in white. Kalo'ohawe with the white halter and his name in black script. There they awaited for her to either ignore them or come over.

The fleabitten mare ate some more hay as she looked up. Two horses were coming out of a trailer. She saw that were placed next to her pen. Oh great. More horses to look at me like I'm dead. She thought. One of them was creamello and the other was black. She guessed that they were brothers seeing as they were put in the same paddock. "Hey hey you! Are you okay?" The creamello stallion asked as he tryed to get her attention. She ignored him knowning that they would just make fun of her as she was skinny and foundering. She sighed and finally gave up and talked to them"Yes?" She asked her voice beautiful as an angel's. She waited for the inevitable laughing and mocking that would soon probably follow her asking them.

Dakota was looking for a new horse, she adored Midnight but he was Grand Prix level and her precious Friesian even walked like he was at a show now. He was the perfect horse for her all around. She would always use Midnight for her dressage horse but the time had come for her to look for a second horse.
She went past many and even stopped to closely inspect a few. As a vet, Dakota could seriously tell if a horse was going to pull through or not. But with her coming right out of med school, she couldn't exactly afford to buy all the horses that should have been put down. So Dr. Glass put all her focus into finding the right horse.
However a grey Arabian mare caught her attention, she told herself no many times even as she was heading towards the mare. As she got closer, Dakota's mind was going back and forth. She did have the supplies at the ready and didn't really have to pay for them herself. By the time Dakota got the mare, she had decided to take a close look. With an experts eye and hands, she ran down the mare's legs, picked up each hoof and took in her malnourished frame. Even with the skinny frame, the mare had a gentle temperment and sound hooves.
"What is her name? How much are you taking for her?" The vet asked as she did one last thing, she picked out a tiny flashlight and petting the mare to let her know everything was going to be ok, she flashed the light in both eyes. Both responded superbly, the pupils dialating and following the light with ease before going back to normal.

The mare looked up as she saw someone walking by. She saw the lady stop by her pen and enter. She ran her hand down Princess's legs. She also took out a flashlight and flashed it in the mare's eyes. The guy watching her said"Her name is Princess and 30. She's gonna need help." The mare snorted softly into the girl's hands. She seemed nice. She hoped that she would go home with this person. Princess hadn't had a good home at all. Maybe just maybe she would go home and be taken care off. This Arabian mare had potenial if they got past the fact that she was malnourished, had foundered and was skinny. Other then that though she was perectly sound and sweet. She was shy though but only to people she hadn't met before or new horses.

Dakota nodded, stroking the mare's muzzle as she did. Again, her mind kept going back and forth with wether or not to purchase this mare. Even with an immediate IV of fluids and the proper care for the founder, there was a chance this mare would not make it.
But when it all came down to it, no matter what horse the vet chose, she was saving one of them. "I know, I'm a vet. She will get the best care with me." Taking everything into consideration, what actually made the deciding factor was how sweet the mare was. Princess hadn't even tried getting away from her during the flashing of her flashlight. Flinching was normal but she was talking about actual biting or scrambling away like a lot of horses did. "I'll take her." Dakota waited for the people to get the mare ready.

The mare nickered softly with joy as the lady stroke her soft muzzle. Yes! I've got a home. She thought as the man entered her pen with a halter and lead rope. She lowered her head as he put on her halter and buckled it on the highest notch it could go. Even on the highest notch though it was big though. He then attached the lead rope to the halter. He led her out of the pen. He then handed the rope to the lady who looked at her while he went and got hay. He opened the door and put it in the trailer. He nodded to the lady and said"Ok you can put her in." He said as he hopped out of the trailer and held the trailer door open. Princess nickered softly as she was the lady held her lead rope. She wondered were she was going, and whether she would be taken cdare of there were ever she was going that was.

"Thank you, here's the money." Dakota said once Princess was all ready to go. She was impressed by the man putting hay in there and giving her the lead. Without a second glance back, Dakota started leading the mare to her trailer, hoping she would load nicely. If not, then it was an easy fix.
Speaking gently to the mare, "First stop is my office. You need an IV immediately, sweetie. And some mash, no solid food for you until you can handle it. Hummm, how's some hot mash sound?" She laughed, scratching the mare's forehead. Dakota tied the lead to her trailer and undid the back, setting it down as noiselessly as possible. Then she untied Princess and led her into the trailer, hoping she would follow nicely. "Come on." Dakota said, clicking. It was a habit she had gotten into thanks to Midnight's communcation requirements with him being a dressage horse.

Princess walked foward as the lady, the vet she had said earlier lead her towards the trailer. She untied her lead rope and keep a firm grip on her halter. She didn't need to though as the mare was in no mood to run or do anything bad in her condition. She spoke softly to her. It was soothing. She said something about hot mash which caused Princess to nicker softly as if saying 'Yum!' The vet set down her lead rope trying not to make any noise to scare her. The vet lead her into the trailer and Princess followed. Luckily it was a trailer with a ramp and not a step. She knew she wouldn't be able to handle a step up trailer. She followed the vet in the trailer. The guy manning the trailer waited for the vet to get out so he could close the trailer door.

The vet was please when the malnourished mare followed her easily into the trailer without even a hint of fear or reluctance. Dr. Glass knew right then and there that she had made the right choice. This mare was perfect! At least so far.
Now only if Promise would survive the next following couple of days and then weeks. Dakota knew from experience that this mare could very well be found dead in the morning, even with a couple bags of saline pumped into her for fluid and the hot mash with tons of pills crushed into it. Sometimes losing a horse or any animal just happened. "Good girl." She said as she got out and the man closed the door. Dakota hopped in her truck, started the engine, and started driving towards the Clinic.

Princess nickered softly as the vet said she was good girl. The guy manning the door closed the door and locked it as the vet hopped out. Princess felt the truck move and wondered were they were going. Oh yeah she said something about a clinic. Princess ahd never been to one but had gotten a shot once when she was really young. The white fae wondered what they would do her once they got to the clinic. She hoped nothing bad. She could tell that the vet was nice but what if it was just a show to get her to be good. Princess felt the trailer jolt as the truck moved. She got tossed around a little as the vet turned onto the road out of the dirt road that led to the auction place.
